Moving is tough. Moving out is even tougher. You have to pack, clean, and then move everything into a new place. Of course, you’ll also want to do anything else that needs to be done for your old home to sell quickly—and attract buyers who will appreciate it as much as you did when you first moved in! That’s why this moving-out cleaning checklist can help make the process go more smoothly and ensure your place looks great when it goes off the market.
Move Out Cleaning Edina MN
Living Room
Start by vacuuming and dusting the living room furniture, including couches, chairs, ottomans, etc.
You should also clean windows with a glass cleaner or vinegar and water solution. Make sure to clean the inside and outside of the windows.
You can wash drapes and couch cushions using a mild detergent in cold water on a gentle cycle (or hang them outside if possible). You can also use your outdoor hose to spray down any dirt on them.
Finally, sweep or vacuum the floors.
Kitchen
The kitchen is a high-traffic area, so you must keep it clean. Cleaning the stovetop, oven, refrigerator, and microwave will make your home feel new and all set to move out of. Give your cabinet doors and drawers a quick wipe-down and vacuum all those pesky hard-to-reach places under cabinets or behind appliances.
Clean the countertops, scrubbing away any dirt or grime that may have accumulated over time.
Vacuum up any crumbs on the floors and if there is anything sticky on them, then use hot water mixed with dish soap and vinegar to remove these sticky substances from hardwood floors without damaging them!
Bedroom
As you move out, it’s important to clean your bedroom thoroughly. This includes cleaning the windows, mirrors, and blinds; vacuuming or sweeping the floors; and wiping down all furniture. You should also make sure that there are no personal items left in the room.
Finally, if you have a bed frame with storage underneath it, be sure to get under there and move any items out so that it’s empty.
Bathroom
The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in your home. It’s where you get ready for work, relax after a long day, and even do some work from home. When it comes time to move out, it’s no surprise that this room has a lot of cleaning left to do. Here are some tips for getting your bathroom in tip-top shape:
- Clean the sink and faucet. Make sure there is no soap scum or buildup on either surface so they’re ready for use at their new home!
- Clean the toilet and bathroom floor. This can be done using vinegar or bleach if necessary—both are effective disinfectants and will keep germs away while you’re moving out!
- Clean around the showerhead, tub spout, and drains.
Laundry Room
Clean the dryer lint trap and the inside of the dryer. Additionally, clean out the washer, including its tub and drain hose. You should also clean the sink, including its drain and faucet area.
Garage
Clean out the garage. Take all that junk, and throw it in the trash. Or better yet, sell it! You can also donate any furniture or appliances you don’t need. You can clean the floor with a sweeping brush and mopping mop to remove dirt and grime from hard surfaces like concrete floors or ceramic tiles with a mild soap solution followed by warm water to rinse.
Clear out any hazardous materials too. If there’s anything left over from previous residents, make sure to dispose of these items properly.
It’s important to clean the whole house if you’re moving out. This checklist will help guide you through all of the rooms in your home so they’re ready for new renters or owners.
